Artist Statement
I am an Art Educator and Mixed Media Artist living in south Georgia. I use fabric, marks, patterns, and symbolism to create original and expressive pieces on canvas, clay, and paper. My aim is to merge art with mission, by promoting art-making for the Glory of God.
About the Artist
Courtenay Puckett is a South Georgia Mixed Media Artist ; originally from Lawrenceville, GA. She has been working as a professional fine artist since 2017, and an arts educator since 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Art Education with a concentration in Drawing and Painting from the Lamar Dodd School of Art from the University of Georgia. She is a member of the National Art Education Association, the Georgia Art Education Association, and Christians In the Visual Arts Association. In 2018 she was chosen as A Curated American Artist and in 2019 she held her first solo show entitled “Living Waters”.
Her artwork has an element of playful joy in the abstractions and layers. This quality is a direct influence of her children, whom she adores. Children have a unique way of making every moment fun; adopting this attitude in her artistic process has helped to cultivate her unique style. It is Courtenay’s goal to draw the viewer toward simple beauty, shared human experiences, and the One who made it all.
She resides in Americus, Georgia with her loving husband and two children. You can find her enjoying being a wife, a mom, working with the local Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and working with the foster care community through, Called to Care.
